United for Relief: Volunteers Aid Displaced Families
Bedayati, like many other community kitchens across Beirut, has shifted its operation almost overnight to serve the now over one million displaced families who have been uprooted from their homes just over the past week.
Tens of volunteers are showing up every day. Some youth from our community center near the Sports Stadium, who fled their own homes and have slept in public spaces by night, are working in our kitchen by day. A lady who was displaced from Burj Al Barajneh, and is now staying in the same building as our central kitchen in Ras Beirut, has also been coming in every morning.
It is this quick mobilization and leadership by citizens in support of fellow citizens that makes us believe that Lebanon shall overcome this crisis despite the relentless attacks against our people.
