At Bedayati, we have been providing direct cash assistance to the most vulnerable workers since the start of the economic and financial crisis in Lebanon. Workers who have been laid off from their jobs do not have a basic safety net to survive. With the COVID-19 lockdown, informal and daily work has also become more challenging. Cash assistance can help prevent families from falling into deeper poverty during the crisis, allowing them to pay rent, utility bills, debts and other expenses. Direct cash assistance also respects the autonomy of families to prioritize bills and expenses to meet their basic needs.
